Horace Howard "Howie" Taylor enlisted in the United States Navy on May 3,
1946 on his eighteenth birthday while he was a student at the
University of Pennsylvania. He was a midshipman during his training.
In June 1950, he was made a Reservist and sent home. In October 1950,
he was recalled and placed back on Active Duty due to the Korean
Conflict/War. He was assigned to various posts throughout his career,
some of which were at Sangley Point in the Philippines, Pensacola, New
York, Memphis and NAS Dallas. He was a Flight Instructor and a pilot.
In Dallas, Howie held the position of Executive Officer (XO) when he retired on June 30,
1972. Howie is our Quartermaster and still sharp as a tack closing in on 96 years young.
