August 6, 1931 - January 6, 2024
Wynn Henson Beidleman, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died January 6, 2024. He had the blood of a true patriot to his country, and as a native Texan, a heart the size of Texas.
Wynn was born August 6, 1931, in Crowell, Texas to Fay and Beulah Beidleman. His parents ran a local café in Overton, Texas, and that’s where Wynn lived most of his childhood and teenage years along with his two sisters, Juana Faye and Carolyn.
Wynn had a no-nonsense approach about him, which worked well in the military and later in business. But for those who knew him, his close ones, whether family or friends, that strict disciplinarian could become a warm, affectionate and sensitive man in a heartbeat.
Before attending college, Wynn made money doing what a lot of young men do in East Texas, taming wild horses and toiling in an oil field. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Baylor University in 1954.
Wynn married his high school sweetheart, Hoye Jean Cone, on August 20, 1953. They lived in Texas for most of their 53 years together, except for several stops as a young couple including New York City while Wynn was a commercial airline pilot.
He received his basic pilot training at Sewart Air Force Base while serving in the United States Air Force from 1955-1958. Wynn transferred to the United States Navy in 1962, where he flew cargo during the Vietnam War. Typical of the humble man he was, Wynn didn’t speak much about Vietnam. He felt it was his duty to serve his country and nothing to boast about – he was a true patriot.
Wynn continued his service with the US Naval Reserves before retiring in 1987, with the rank of Captain. We will miss his stories about his many hours logged in the cockpits of the C130 Hercules and C118 cargo planes. Most of his civilian career was as a Contract Negotiator with LTV Corp in Grand Prairie before spending several years in Taiwan with Air Asia.
He and his bride, Hoye, raised their two children, Laura and Blake, in Dallas before moving to Plano in 1986. After Hoye passed away in 2006, Wynn married a mutual friend from Baylor, Lillian Pearson. They had a wonderful eight years together, enjoying retirement between Plano and Lillian’s hometown, Beaumont, Texas, until her passing in 2015.
Wynn will be remembered as a loyal husband and provider for his family, and a fierce protector of his children, Laura and Blake. He was a true gentleman, and a loving Papa, or "Pop” as some of his boys called him.
He is survived by his children, Laura Palmer and her husband Rick, Blake Beidleman and his wife Alicia; grandchildren Brett Palmer and his wife Samantha, Jessica DeJohn and her husband Ryan, Bo Beidleman and his wife Emma and Tyler Beidleman; great grandchildren Cayson DeJohn and Ellison Palmer; sister Carolyn Jefferson and several nieces and nephews.
2 Corinthians 5 says: "For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens”.
We know this is where Wynn resides now, reunited with Hoye and all dearest to him.
Wynn will be laid to rest with military honors at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery with Pastor Robert Matthews officiating.
